Honey Oatmeal Goat Milk (HP)
Honey Oatmeal Goat Milk Soap (HP)
?? bars
?? oz. mold
Fats Mixture:
- 16 oz coconut oil
- 16 oz olive oil
Lye Solution:
- 12.16 oz distilled water
- 4.844 oz lye
Essential Oil Blend:
- 1 oz essential oils
Other Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz beeswax
- 1 tsp honey
- 1/2 c dried goat milk
- 1 tsp citric acid
- 1.5 Tbsp chopped oatmeal
Step 1: Fats Mixture
- Set crock pot on HOT setting.
- Measure and put fats into crock pot.
- Melt down the solid fats then set crock pot to KEEP WARM setting.
Step 2: Lye Solution
- Measure water into glass container.
- Measure lye in separate glass container.
- Take water & lye outside with wooden spoon.
- Pour lye slowly into water and mix well.
Step 3:
- Gently pour lye solution into fats in crock pot.
- Use immersion blender to mix to light trace (looks like pudding with a gentle peak).
Step 4:
- Put the lid on crock pot and heat on KEEP WARM setting. Check at 15 min and every 5 min after until the mixture reaches first fold (the mixture grows and folds into itself).
- Using wooden spoon, stir the mixture down.
Step 5:
- Continue stirring every 15 minutes until the soap mixture reaches a translucent waxy stage (looks kind of like vaseline)
- Once to this stage, take some soap mixture off of your wooden spoon and roll it between 2 fingers. It should feel like warm wax.
- ZAP test: Once small wax ball is cool enough, touch to the tip of your tongue. If you feel a “zap” on your tongue, heat another 15 min and try again until there’s no “zap.”
Step 6:
- Add beeswax & honey to crockpot and stir with wooden spoon to melt.
- Add dried goat milk & citric acid and stir with wooden spoon.
- Turn off the crock pot, and allow to cool down to 140 degrees with the lid off.
- Pour essential oils into soap mixture and use wooden spoon to stir.
- Stir in chopped oatmeal.
Step 8:
- Use spatula to pour mixture into 2 POUND and 1 POUND soap molds.
- Bang soup mold on countertop to remove air pockets.
- Press mixture down well with spatula completely fill-in corners of mold.
Step 9:
- Let cool completely for several hours.
- After soap is completely cooled down, take it out of the mold and let it sit overnight
- You can cut it as you need it, or you can cut it into bars right away.
- Allow hot process soap to cure for a day before using it.
